Today is the first ugh-hot day of summer. Why am I wearing jeans!?!! Unanswerable question.
One of the great things about living in Concord is that there are a ton of public trails on a ton of public land (by Northeast US standards). So for the past couple weeks of nice-spring and ok-summer weather, I’ve been able to get out a lot and see some animals just hanging out enjoying their days:
- A pair of … herons? Long legs, wading around a swamp, looking aesthetic
- Red-winged blackbirds
- A muskrat — saw this guy three days in a row and then he got shy
- Squidgy larvae thingies on some grass
- A brown snake guy, sunning
- So many Canada geese
I take shitty pictures every once in a while, trying to text bird-knowing friends to get IDs, and I think Maybe I should get a nicer camera and then I think Maybe I should put my phone away and look with my eyes and then I don’t get a camera.
Anyway, the pic here is a maybe-heron, and it’s exactly as good of a picture as I want to take.
