So the International Astronomical Union has rules about naming planets (and space stuff in general), and what I think is, when I see a rule against something, generally it means someone tried it.
And I think it’s a goddamn shame that we can’t use these names:
- Lauwiliwilinukunukuʻoiʻoi (too many letters — capped at 16)
- Plüto (too close to “Pluto” — but “Bluto” could be ok)
- Kayleigh (“First names or surnames proposed as names should be given as normally spelled.”)
- LMAO (any acronyms must be pronounceable)
- Burmashave (commercial in nature)
Looking at what dwarf planets ARE named, so far I think “Gonggong” is the one to beat.
